If VMS reports back "The remote name could not be resolved......", VMS is not picking up the proxy settings. If it says "The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.", VMS is picking up the proxy, but the proxy can't resolve the VMS URL.
If using an "automatic configuration script" to configure their proxy server, chances are the first error message will occur ("The remote name could not be resolved......"). If that is the case, modify the "C:\Program Files (x86)\KCF Technologies\VMS\ViewerVMS by KCF Technologies.exe.config" file by adding the "scriptLocation" setting to the proxy element like this:
Where "uriString" is the URL to their script as found in their IE settings. In the example below, you would put "http://sqldev/proxy.txt" in place of "uriString"
To get to the IE settings page, open IE, go to "Internet Options", click on the "Connections" tab, click on "LAN settings".
This setting will get reset whenever the software is reinstalled.
